SDSU 2nd Annual Sustainability Summit

Join us for the 2nd Annual SDSU Sustainability Summit, a one-of-a-kind event dedicated to exploring and promoting sustainable practices.
There will be free food (gluten-free and vegan options available), giveaways and trivia at this zero-waste event! Students, faculty, alumni and community members will gather to discuss innovative ideas and solutions for a greener future. Additionally, there will be opportunity to comment on proposed measures for the SDSU Climate Action Plan Update.

Doc Morris Public Lecture: “Why Don’t We Have Quantum Computers?”

Speaker: Dr. Clare Yu, UC Irvine Professor of Physics
Quantum computers hold the promise of operating enormously faster than current computers and thus could solve many of the problems beyond our reach today. So why don’t we have quantum computers?
This talk will help provide an explanation by giving an overview of qubits, superconductivity and various microscopic sources of noise.

2024 Distinguished Lecturer Symposium

The topic of the symposium, sponsored by the Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Education, is “Inquiry and Equity in Undergraduate Mathematics Education” and will feature a panel of expert speakers:

The event will begin with a reception and open house from 4 – 5 p.m., followed by the symposium from 5 – 7 p.m.

San Diego County’s 2024 City Nature Challenge

The SDSU Biodiversity Museum is co-organizing San Diego County’s 2024 City Nature Challenge with the San Diego Natural History Museum.
The event is a 4-day, worldwide collaboration to get people observing the natural world.
To participate and directly contribute to science, use the free iNaturalist app and on the 2024 San Diego County City Nature Challenge Project Page, add observations made in San Diego County.
Our Biodiversity Museum has a long history of local biodiversity research, and a particularly rich history of collaboration with researchers at The Nat. The Biodiversity Museum’s active role in the organization of this event continues this tradition and aligns with our current efforts to be more accessible and connected to the community.
