Trevor Mugoya, a bioinformatics master’s student from Uganda, probes plant genomics in SDSU’s Sethuraman Lab.

SDSU’s growing research opportunities attract not only homegrown scholars but also degree-seeking international students who bring diversity in perspectives and lived experiences to campus.

This includes Uganda native Trevor Mugoya who was admitted to the Bioinformatics and Medical Informatics master’s program in fall 2023. He has since joined Arun Sethuraman’s lab, where he builds computational pipelines to identify qualities influencing plants’ disease resistance and adaptation to environmental stressors.
