Assistant Professor of Computer Science

(Full Time, Tenure Track)

 

The Department of Computer Science is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence, beginning fall 2018. Sub-areas include deep learning, big data analytics, data mining, pattern recognition, neural networks, data classification, etc, with broad applications such as autonomous self-driving vehicles, cognitive robotics, biomedical informatics, smart health, speech processing, machine vision and expert systems. Strong candidates in relevant research areas will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates in core machine learning areas. Candidates must be able to teach computer science core courses (e.g., data structures, principles of programming languages, compiler construction, or automata theory) as well as specialized courses in the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Candidates must have a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. A strong record of scholarship is required. Candidates are expected to establish and grow an externally funded research program. They must also be willing to engage in collaborative interdisciplinary research with faculty members from other departments. The department is home to faculty who are principal investigators of multimillion dollar grants from NIH, NSF, etc. The department offers Bachelor and Master of Science degree programs, certificate programs, and faculty may supervise Ph.D. students through the Computational Sciences Joint Doctoral program. The Department houses research in several computer science disciplines, and is committed to collaborative research experiences.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
