Organic Chemistry

About Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry research at SDSU focuses on the creativity and precision of molecular construction. Faculty in this area develop new synthetic methodologies, design organometallic and organoboron compounds, and explore bioorganic processes with chemical and medicinal importance. Their work includes creating fluorescent probes for biological imaging, advancing asymmetric synthesis for natural products, and using computational tools to predict reactivity. By combining theory, synthesis, and application, the program trains students to innovate in areas ranging from drug discovery to advanced materials.
