    An Advocate for Student Success John Hood joined the Aztec family in 1975 when his close friend helped him get a job as an instructor at SDSU. For the next 20 years, he dedicated his career to being an instructor in the Physical Sciences as well as teaching Business Management for a brief period.

    Taking the Road Less Traveled he San Diego State University Geology department has secured a legacy gift from College of Science and Geology professor, Victor Camp and his wife Jean, making an impact that will be felt for many years to come. Dr. Camp and his wife have strong feelings toward learning and education. For them, it made sense to donate to SDSU because they are part of the community. They feel learning for the sake of learning is important because “the more students learn the more they want to learn,” said Dr. Camp.

    Distinguished Professor Emeritus James Sallis Elected to National Academy of Medicine

    Congratulations to James Sallis, Ph.D, a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Psychology who worked at San Diego State University from 1989 to 2012. The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) announced the election of James F. Sallis, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor and Chief of the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Psychology at SDSU. Election to NAM is considered among the highest honors possible in the fields of health and medicine.

    Gary Waer never thought of himself as a lost Aztec, but he will concede he’s been “found.” A reception organized by San Diego State University for alumni in the Santa Barbara area last year reconnected Waer with the university 49 years after his graduation.
