Bio
Hi! My name is Fatimah, and I am an undergraduate chemistry major on the pre-dental track at San Diego State University. I currently serve as a Peer Mentor with the Health Professions Advising Office (HPAO), where I support students with academic planning, extracurricular involvement, and professional development as they navigate their pre-health journeys. As someone preparing to apply to dental school soon, I enjoy sharing the strategies, resources, and lessons I have learned along my own path to help students feel less overwhelmed, build clear action plans, and approach their goals with confidence.
Beyond mentoring, I volunteer as a dental assistant at the UCSD Dental Free Clinics, where I work alongside providers to support patient care and community outreach. I am also involved in in Dr. Holland’s research laboratory at SDSU, where I study interactions between hydroxyapatite and the acidic amino acids glutamic acid and aspartic acid using peptide synthesis and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Through my experiences in mentorship, research, and clinical service, I hope to encourage and empower fellow pre-health students as they pursue their professional aspirations.
