Bio

Hi Everyone! I am a fourth-year Biology major on a Pre-Physician Assistant path at San Diego State University and currently serve as an Advising Assistant to HPAO’s Pre-Health Professional Lead Advisor, Dr. Karla Viramontes. In this role, I support students with academic planning, extracurricular involvement, and professional development as they navigate their pre-health journeys. As a student myself with a deep passion in medicine and serving others, I’m excited to
share insight and offer a perspective that emphasizes growth, exploration, and balance. I strive to foster a supportive, welcoming environment in HPAO and the pre-health community, just as HPAO has led me through my entire undergraduate experience.

In addition to my work at HPAO, I am a medical assistant and phlebotomist at Compassionate Care Medical Center as well as a research assistant at Dr. Mark Sussman’s cardiovascular biology research lab, where I contribute to projects focused on the cardiopulmonary effects of vaping on the heart and lungs using assessments of mouse models, cardiomyoctye polyploidation, and postnatal development. This has been an amazing experience in which I can collaborate with other undergraduate, graduate and master students mentored under Dr.Sussman’s guidance and collaborate on studies furthering studies on the molecular and cellular basis of heart disease. I am originally from San Jose, California and I love to workout, hike, surf, go to the beach, cook, try new restaurants and hangout with my family in my free time.
