Bio
Alyssa is a joint doctoral student in Ecology. She studies the intersection of atmospheric science, oceanography and marine ecology. Her current projects focus on eddy covariance (EC) methodology over marine systems.
She maintains EC towers on Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Ellen Browning Pier in La Jolla and a boat-based tower in San Diego Bay. Alyssa is specifically interested in understanding how air-sea carbon dioxide flux is influenced by climate patterns, macrophyte primary production, and marine pollution.
She is AAUS SCUBA certified and a certified boating captain under the SDSU Coastal & Marine Institute Laboratory. Her background is in Chemistry (M.S.) and Biochemistry (B.S.), where she gained experience working with analytical chemistry instrumentation.
