Bio
Dr. Sasmita Nayak is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at San Diego State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), India, and has extensive research experience in nanotechnology, materials chemistry, wastewater treatment, and advanced functional materials. Prior to joining SDSU, she held research positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Her research has resulted in more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, a U.S. patent application, and externally funded research projects. At SDSU, Dr. Nayak teaches General Chemistry courses and serves as an Instructor, Course Coordinator, and Laboratory Coordinator for General Chemistry classes. She also manages the Chemistry Placement Exam program. She is passionate about creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that promote conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and student success.
