Bio
Nimrat Brar joined the Collective Lab as a Lab Manager/Project Coordinator in September 2026. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and Economics from UCLA and her M.A. in Psychology from CSULA, where her thesis examined how trauma exposure subtypes shaped mental health outcomes and help-seeking among Muslim American young adults. She also worked as a Lab Coordinator at the UCLA Psychology Clinic, facilitating therapy and assessment services and research initiatives.
These experiences sparked Nimrat's interest in how sociocultural and structural factors shape mental health care engagement in underserved and minority communities. Aspiring to pursue a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, she hopes to study brief, scalable treatment models and non-traditional pathways to care, such as community partnerships and digital mental health interventions, that build on trust within existing community settings and reach people where they already are.
Fun Facts
Outside of research, Nimrat enjoys reading, fashion, writing poetry, being outdoors, and any activity that gets her moving. She also loves to dance and competes in Bhangra, a high-energy Punjabi folk dance.
