Bio
I am an Associate Professor of Biology and Director of the Coastal and Marine Institute Laboratory (CMIL) at San Diego State University. My research focuses on the ecological, physiological, and genetic mechanisms that allow coral and fish communities to persist across environmental gradients and under climate stress. My work integrates field ecology, molecular biology, and oceanographic approaches to understand biodiversity and resilience from shallow reefs to mesophotic ecosystems.
Areas of Expertise
Coral Reef Ecology, Fish Ecology, Mesophotic Coral Ecosystems, Ecophysiology, Population Genetics, Invasive Species Ecology, Coral Reef Restoration, Larval Ecology and Biology
